At Rooted we believe that food should be our medicine, and that food can play a powerful role in our healing. Each person is unique and therefore there is no one-size-fits-all diet. Each persons' unique lifestyle, needs, and desires will be considered in the implementation of the nutrition protocol. Our approach to nutrition is to nourish your body with real food and to replenish any deficiencies we may uncover from your testing.
During the Initial Consultation there will be a comprehensive analysis of your current health concerns, and current nutritional intake. Here your goals, desires and current lifestyle will be taken into consideration to devise a plan together that works best for you.
In our time together there is a functional nutrition approach that implements a systems biology view where the foundational pillars of health will be discussed. These include: Nutrition, Stress, Sleep, Exercise and Emotional well-being. In our assessment we are mindful of imbalances that can contribute to disruption in any one of these pillars, some including: nutrient deficiencies, inflammation, gut imbalances, hormonal imbalances, immune system disruptions, toxin exposure, metabolic imbalances, sedentary lifestyle, circadian rhythm disruptions and mental/emotional stress.
Our time together may consist of the following (each individual being unique in approach, and process):
Review and analysis of health history and the pillars of health.
Review of previous and current labs.
Initiation of an Initial Protocol to address specific imbalances.
Recommendation and access to top quality supplements for therapeutic use.
Recommendation and access to basic labs and also functional testing.
Will make referral suggestions to outside providers if deemed valuable to the client.
Will refer out for mental/emotional support with a qualified professional, as needed or requested.
2 Phone Check-In calls included.
Making dietary changes and obtaining long-term dietary and lifestyle changes is no easy task. It requires time, patience and consistency. Follow-Up Consultations are recommended to keep the course towards achieving sustained healing and improvement in health goals.
During Follow-Up Consultations there is a strategic approach to healing that will be implemented. During this time there will be revisions to the health care plan based upon client's unique needs and current progression through previous recommendations.
Follow-Up Appointments may consist of any of the following based upon individual's unique needs:
Review of new labs.
Review of further assessments, questionnaires that were provided during Initial Consultation.
Review of progress with initial protocol, and implementation of new protocol that best supports individuals current health status, and goals.
Clients will be provided access to top quality products at a discounted rate. If products are not stocked in-office, or on our website there will still be direct access to top quality brands via the Fullscript site.
Most of our clients are very savvy in their health and are looking for ways to further understand where imbalances may be residing for them. This is where functional lab testing may be an ideal method to uncovering hidden imbalances that are keeping you stuck in achieving your current goals. Find some of the labs we work with below.
This advanced hormone testing was developed to improve on available hormone testing options. DUTCH offers the most extensive profile of sex and adrenal hormones along with their metabolites. Additionally, the daily (diurnal) pattern of free cortisol is included, along with melatonin(6-OHMS), 8-OHdG, and six organic acids. This unique combination of clinical information is not available by any other method.
Most popular tests include:
The Dutch Plus - The DUTCH Plus® takes hormone testing to a whole new level. In addition to sex hormones and their metabolites, the DUTCH Complete™ looks at the overall diurnal pattern of free cortisol, and the total and distribution of cortisol metabolites. The DUTCH Plus® adds the Cortisol Awakening Response (CAR) to bring another important piece of the HPA-axis into focus.
Dutch Cycle Mapping - For some women, testing reproductive hormones (progesterone, estrogen, etc.) on a single day is sufficient. In other scenarios, the clinical picture cannot be properly captured without “mapping” out the hormonal pattern throughout their menstrual cycle. Recommended for women struggling with infertility, women with cycling hormones and no menses, partial hysterectomy (ovaries intact but no uterus), ablations, women with irregular cycles, PCOS, if the luteal phase shifts from month-to-month, not sure when to test due to long or short cycles, women whose hormonal symptoms tend to fluctuate throughout the cycle, PMS, mid-cycle spotting, migraines, etc.
Genova Diagnostics offers tests that combine standard and innovative biomarkers designed to provide a more complete understanding of specific biological systems that can help address chronic disease.
Some of the most popular tests available here include:
NutrEval - Comprehensive test for identifying functional nutritional deficiencies and insufficiencies
Comprehensive Stool Analysis 2.0 with Parasitology - The Comprehensive Digestive Stool Analysis 2.0™ without Parasitology (CDSA 2.0) is an advanced stool test that provides immediate, actionable clinical information for the management of gastrointestinal health. Utilizing cutting-edge technologies and biomarkers, this test offers valuable insight into digestive function, intestinal inflammation, and the intestinal microbiome.
Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO) - Genova's SIBO Profiles are non-invasive breath tests which capture exhaled hydrogen (H2) and methane (CH4) gases following patient ingestion of a lactulose solution to evaluate bacterial overgrowth of thesmall intestine.
The Great Plains Laboratory, Inc. is a research-based clinical laboratory offering testing for metabolic, nutritional, and toxic factors in chronic conditions such as autism, AD(H)D, fibromyalgia, and gastrointestinal and neuropsychiatric disorders.
Most popular tests available include:
Organic Acid Testing (OATs) - The Organic Acids Test (OAT) offers a comprehensive metabolic snapshot of a patient’s overall health with 76 markers. It provides an accurate evaluation of intestinal yeast and bacteria. Abnormally high levels of these microorganisms can cause or worsen behavior disorders, hyperactivity, movement disorders, fatigue and immune function. Many people with chronic illnesses and neurological disorders often excrete several abnormal organic acids in their urine. The cause of these high levels could include oral antibiotic use, high sugar diets, immune deficiencies, acquired infections, as well as genetic factors.
MycoTox Profile (Mold Expsoure) - Mycotoxins (toxins from mold) are some of the most prevalent toxins in the environment. Mycotoxins are metabolites produced by fungi like mold, which can infest buildings, vehicles, and foodstuffs.
GPL Tox Profile (Toxic Non-Metal Chemicals) - Because exposure to environmental pollutants has been linked to many chronic diseases, The Great Plains Laboratory has created GPL-TOX, a toxic non-metal chemical profile that screens for the presence of 173 different toxic chemicals
Glyphosate Testing - Glyphosate is the world’s most widely produced herbicide and is the primary toxic chemical in Roundup™, as well as in many other herbicides. Recent studies have discovered glyphosate exposure to be a cause of many chronic health problems. It can enter the body by direct absorption through the skin, by eating foods treated with glyphosate, or by drinking water contaminated with glyphosate.
Metals Red Blood Cell Test - Heavy metals toxicity caused by increasing levels of pollution and use of chemicals in industry is a growing threat to our health and development of our children. High levels of toxic metals deposited in body tissues and subsequently in the brain, may cause significant developmental and neurological damage.

Most popular testing found here:
Food Sensitivity Testing - Food sensitivities are recognized to be correlated with many chronic health conditions, such as IBS, eczema, fatigue, and others - but with proper identification and elimination of offending foods, many experience relief from their symptoms. Our IgG, IgG4, and IgA antibody assessment panels can serve as useful tools in the identification of trigger foods in individuals. We offer a comprehensive 208 food panel, as well as 144- and 96-food panels to assess IgG, IgG4, and IgA antibody response to common foods. Our 96-food panels are offered in five variations, including a General panel and specialized panels to identify allergens found in typical Asian, Japanese, Mexican, or Vegetarian diets.
Aeroallergens - Pollens and spores from trees, grasses, mold, dust, and others can produce symptoms that range from minor to severe in affected individuals. Our inhalant panels assess IgG, IgG4, and IgA antibody response to 48 common allergens, and IgE response to 50 allergens, providing helpful information for effective allergy management. A 15-Mold panel for IgE testing is also offered.
